The search for the perfect material

Our first solution was a modular pump track made of fiber cement, which we developed together with Eternit (Swisspearl). Although the material properties were convincing, production was too inflexible: the molds had to be created on site at the factory, which limited the customization options and delivery times.

We tested alternative materials such as PLA flax fiber plastic and wood, but none of these solutions met our requirements. Wood in particular presented a challenge. The riding surface of a modular pump track has to be bent in three axes to ensure smooth transitions and optimum riding characteristics. This was not feasible with wood.

The decisive discovery: recycled plastic

Child rides on modular pump track
  • Easy to shape – enables smooth transitions without hard edges.
  • Durable & weather-resistant – for long-term outdoor use.
  • Optimum slip resistance – sufficient grip even in the rain, without the risk of serious abrasions.
  • Shock-absorbing – reduces the risk of injury in the event of a fall.
  • Sustainable use of resources – instead of being incinerated, the plastic is given a second life.

Optimum geometry for maximum riding fun and safety

Low risk of injury
